Our client is looking for a permanent SAP Training Specialist in Montreal.  

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Training and Communications Manager the training specialist will be working in a high pace and dynamic environment, as part of the change management team.  The main focus of the training specialist for the next 3 years will be on the ERP transformation program. The training specialist will take on the role of training lead on IT project where end user training is required. In this role, the training specialist, will be responsible to ensure that an adequate training strategy is adopted, that training is efficiently supported with appropriate material, environment, logistics, trainers, etc...  Working with the project teams, the training specialist will also be responsible to ensure that the end users receive the adequate level of training and that their level of understanding is adequately assessed to ensure a high level of readiness to operate in the new or revised business processes using the new or revised technology.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

As the training lead on projects, the training specialist will be responsible to monitor successful delivery of end user training.  This includes overseeing the end user enrolment, monitoring of end user training attendance working with the divisions' training coordinators.  The training specialist will be responsible to report on end user attendance on a regular basis and provide mitigation actions as needed.

The training lead will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of the training environment data as it relates to end user training.  The training specialist will work with the technical infrastructure, security, functional and data management teams to ensure end users access to a relevant training environment.  The number of training exercise available within the training environment is expected to continue to evolve under the guidance of the training specialist as we continue to refine our learning tools.

As the training lead on projects, the training specialist will be responsible to plan the delivery of end user training, working with divisional resources.  This includes the creation of the training curriculum (list of training topics), role based training plans, taking into account the most optimal training delivery approach based on the role, and training schedules which will be built in conjunction with the business.

Responsible to enable divisional trainers by delivering train-the-training training on the training tools available.  The training specialist will also coordinate TTT soft skills training with the corporate training team.

Responsible to establish the project training strategy which addresses topics such as training deliverables to be used, training tools that will be leveraged, training delivery methods, training logistics considerations and trainee assessment process.

Responsible to administer the tools used by the training team: WPB (SAP's Workforce Performance Builder), RMS (IBM's Role Mapping Tool), Access data based used to establish end user training schedule and manage training class material referencing to lessons.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES & JOB TASKS

Contribute to the improvement of the change management strategy, methodology and deliverables' templates by providing active feedback based on project experience using the tools.  Participate in the evolution of the change management department by contributing ideas and making improvement suggestions.

       

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS  

EDUCATION

         

Bachelor’s in Information Systems, Business Administration or equivalent work experience

 
 

LANGUAGE

         

Bilingual is a nice to have

EXPERIENCE

         

5-7 years’ experience in a training lead function in manufacturing/distribution industry, preferably in a large organization.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience leading SAP training programs

Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to synthesize business concepts to make them digestible to target audience

Highly detailed and deadline oriented.  Ability to perform under pressure leveraging good time management skills.

Ability to multi task and manage competing priorities.

Good organization and coordination skills; 

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

       

Understanding of the role of training in a change management approach in the context of business process and technology changes.

Proficient in MS Office (ie Word, PowerPoint, Access and Excel) and Sharepoint.

Exposure to ERP, packaged software and SaaS implementation methodologies an asset. Cross functional exposure, including Manufacturing, Supply Chain and HR/Payroll an asset.

Proficient in MS-Project tool

Knowledge of LMS software is an asset

Knowledge of business process procedures writing software (U-Perform, WPB, etc…) is an asset

1. Role is very demanding with high expectations and needs from the business.  The impact of this role on the organization and on the ERP transformation program is significant as it directly affects the ability of the end users in all areas of the business to execute their "business as Usual" tasks upon go-live.  Given the scope of the deployment and a spread out user based, end user autonomy at the early stages of deployments is key.
