Our Client is looking for a strong Senior SAP Project Manager for a long-term engagement. Must have experience leading finance-based SAP projects.

Project Description:
The Client is further implementing SAP business processes in the Finance area on the S/4 HANA platform. The scope of this initiative is centred around Accounts Payable and Receivable.
The Client is looking for a senior SAP Project Manager with the relevant financial experience to manage this project.
Description of Duties / Scope of Work:
As an SAP Project Manager with a focus on Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, you will be responsible for the following:
  • Project Management services managing the SAP implementation of the accounts payable and accounts receivable modules on an existing S/4 HANA SAP finance General Ledger system
  • Leading project planning for a typical SAP implementation following the SAP Activate Methodology including work packages including but not limited to organizational change, communication, data management, testing, training, cutover, go-live and post go-live support activities as required
  • Manage project risk logs and provide mitigations with appropriate contingency plans approved by the business and IT teams
  • Manage project issue log on a daily basis and provide actions by collaborating with the responsible project team leads/members to provide a workable solution
  • Identify program impediments and address them with appropriate urgency and escalation ensuring the calculated critical path can maintain the delivery timeline
  • Drive escalation and resolution of issues and defects, working with the vendor as necessary (ex. raising incidents with SAP and bringing them to closure)
  • Prepare and maintain associated project documentation as necessary based on the SAP implementation phase deliverable schedule
  • Manage with project within the provided project budget and report plan vs. actual cost variances with reasons
  • Proactively identify changes in scope, resource, budget or schedule by use of a project change request and ensure appropriate planning measures are taken with internal and external stakeholders to assess impact to project milestones and overall delivery schedule
  • Lead the project planning activities aligned to Activate Methodology (Prepare, Explore Realize, Deploy, Run), while managing the execution of the project according to plan
  • Develop the project schedule including all resource and allocation efforts, linked dependencies and integrated work packages validating with the appropriate resources/ stakeholders to ensure that all tasks are accounted for and accurately represented
  • Oversee the management of project resources and provide direction where necessary
  • Develop work plans, manage deadlines and coordinate the project team’s activities as per the project schedule
  • Lead and support all activities around project planning, change management, communications, testing, training, go-live and post go-live support as necessary
  • Provides leadership to cross-functional teams for quality management of deliverables for each Activate Methodology phase
  • Provide leadership to the data lead/team responsible for data migration/conversion
  • Ensure adherence to SAP best practice (using SAP methodology)
  • Ensure project adheres to using Solution Manager processes
  • Prepare weekly progress status reports
  • Prepare presentations/reports for periodic Sponsor/Steering Committee supporting the SAP Program Manager
  • Support, foster and encourage a strong, collaborative team environment
  • Lead, conduct and document project closeout activities including lessons learned, with opportunities for improvement presented in a final project closeout report
Mandatory Skills / Certification:
  • At least 15 years’ experience in managing SAP projects preferably in SAP Finance
  • Have led at least 3 SAP finance related end-to-end implementations
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and financial reporting processes, particularly A/P and A/R
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SAP methodology
  • Demonstrated business working relationships with various stakeholders including Project Sponsors, Steering Committees, External Vendors and SAP support
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of SAP Finance (S/4 Preferred)
  • Demonstrated business knowledge and experience working with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable with strong knowledge of General Ledger and Cost Center Accounting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of integrating SAP Finance with other SAP modules
  • Demonstrated knowledge of integrating SAP Finance with Legacy Systems
Other Skills / Certification:
  • SAP Finance certification is an asset
  • PMP certification is an asset
  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline
  • Hands on experience in SAP Finance in ECC.  S/4 is preferred
  • Excellent management of large scale SAP implementation with superior problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
Key deliverables for this position are as follows and will be delivered throughout the phases of SAP’s Activate Methodology.
  • Integrated Project Schedule based on all Activate Methodology phase deliverables including but not limited to work packages for organizational change management, training, testing, system change management, cutover, communications, go-live and post go-live support activities as required aligned with SAP Best Practices
  • Project risk log management and mitigations with weekly reporting
  • Project issue log management with appropriate contingencies actions and timely resolutions, escalations and weekly reporting
  • Project defect management for daily triage and defect resolution with daily reporting
  • Project status reporting on a weekly basis against schedule baseline highlighting plan vs. actual
  • Project management documentation including but not limited to deliverables from all phases of the Activate Methodology as necessary
  • Change Request Management for project changes in scope, schedule, resource, and/or budget, going through the appropriate process and ensuring the impact is communicated to the project team, sponsors and stakeholders
  • Project Planning for the end to end implementation aligned to SAP Best Practices
  • Project stakeholder management, working and validating with the appropriate resources / stakeholders to ensure that all tasks are accounted for and accurately represented
  • Project cost management to ensure an accurately planned budget and reporting of planned vs. actual costs, providing recommendations where necessary to maintain project budget
  • Project organizational change management activities to ensure impacts are communicated to end user community through department/corporate communications
  • Project management of learning and training management deliverables to ensure organizational readiness and acceptance
  • Plan, execute and support project cutover, go-live and post go-live activities (ex. project closeout, lessons learned including facilitation, documentation and presentation to Senior Management Team and Sponsors etc…)
  • Project Integration Management ensuring all SAP processes have impacts identified where cross functional processes exist
  • Project management of data management activities including data migration/conversion/cleansing
