Description
The Senior IT Project Manager is responsible for the overall management of the project/program, from the development of the approach to achieve the desired outcomes to delivery. The position involves coordinating projects and managing resources within the program, creating communications with stakeholders and sponsors, reporting, and managing program finances for the IT department. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, supervising and directing assigned projects and ensuring their success in terms of scope, cost, timeliness and quality of delivered products.
He also participates in the planning and control of the IT project portfolio, is responsible for implementing project management approaches and methodologies, and interacts with other IT teams and with business customers to achieve goals.
Responsibilities:
The candidate leads the development of the program's overall approach, its main timeline, and the definition of its key deliverables in order to achieve the objectives and desired outcomes.
Oversees and ensures the success of large transformation projects (infrastructure, security and ERP), closely monitoring all phases of the project and taking the necessary steps to keep the project on track in terms of scope, budget, time and quality requirements.
Work in partnership with the Executive Sponsor to communicate the goals, objectives, and potential outcomes of the program.
Lead regular interactions with the Executive Sponsor to inform, alert, negotiate, and maintain a good ongoing relationship and a shared vision of program outcomes.
Establish and maintain appropriate governance functions for the program, in accordance with company policies and practices, and on behalf of the Executive Sponsor or Responsible Principal Owner.
Prepare deliverables related to the project management methodology (charter, project status, project plan, budget planning, RACI, RAID, meeting minutes, project close-out, etc.)
Develop and monitor the programme budget and manage expenditures within agreed expenditure plans.
Proactively manage issues and risks and implement change management and escalation processes for decision-making.
Track and control project progress against the project management plan, requirements, quality metrics, standard processes, and milestones to identify areas for improvement and make adjustments as needed.
Effectively manage and maintain communication with key stakeholders, the project team, all contributors, vendors, and management and executive committees at various levels throughout the project.
It plays an advisory role and establishes and maintains relationships with all stakeholders.
It monitors and coordinates dependencies between program projects and resolves conflicts.
In partnership and agreement with PMO management, leads or approves the establishment of a framework or guidelines for the use of contractors and professional service providers, and determines their use throughout the program.
Support and prepare the setting of the agenda for meetings of the program committee or board of directors.
Play a leadership and coaching role within the function by mentoring and guiding less experienced project managers.
Ensure that the project achieves business and strategic objectives (ROI).
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in information technology, business administration or a related field preferred.
An equivalent combination of training and/or experience may be considered.
More than 10 years of experience in information technology and business/industry.
5 to 7 years of experience in a variety of roles with increasing responsibilities in large-scale projects and programs.
Experience in managing all phases of projects in the areas of IT infrastructure and information technology, security and/or ERP.
Experience with waterfall and agile methodologies.
Proficiency in MS Project and MS Office.
PMP certification (an asset).
Bilingualism essential, written and oral (French and English).
Demonstrated professional experience in developing partnerships between the business and technology sectors.
Proven experience communicating with senior management
Must have Work Authorization for Canada.
