Job Summary:
Reporting to the Manager, Technology, ERP, the Senior SAP ABAP Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting SAP S/4HANA solutions across Finance, Sales, and Logistics domains. This role delivers high-quality ABAP enhancements, integrations, and technical solutions that enable accurate, compliant, and performant business transactions.
Working closely with business partners, functional consultants, and solution architects, the developer translates requirements into scalable technical designs aligned with S/4HANA best practices and clean-core principles. The role supports implementations, upgrades, conversions, and ongoing production operations, while modernizing legacy developments for S/4HANA.
This position requires strong ABAP expertise combined with proven techno-functional knowledge of SAP S/4HANA FI, SD, and related logistics processes.
Responsibilities
Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
Ensure alignment with corporate safety, security, data privacy, and IT governance standards
Follow secure coding practices and align with audit, change management, and SoD requirement
Define and follow development standards aligned with S/4HANA and clean-core principles
Provide technical build mentorship for improvements, integrations, reports, forms, workflows, and custom objects (RICEFW)
Collaborate with solution architects and functional leads to ensure developments align with enterprise architecture and S/4HANA roadmap
Provide effort estimates, technical impact assessments, and solution design input
Build and improve RICEFW objects in SAP S/4HANA including Fiori Apps
Develop HANA-optimized solutions using CDS Views, AMDP, Open SQL, and OO-ABAP
Build and support OData services and integrations (IDocs, RFCs, APIs, web services)
Refactor ECC custom code for S/4HANA compatibility and performance
Solve complex issues and ensure accurate transport and documentation practices
Collaborate with functional and integration teams to design end-to-end solutions across Finance (FI), Sales & Distribution (SD), and Logistics processes
Conduct performance analysis and optimization of HANA-based developments, including SQL trace and runtime analysis
Ensure data consistency, transactional integrity, and stability across upstream and downstream systems
Support data migration, conversion programs, and reconciliation activities during implementation or upgrade cycles
Qualifications
Extensive SAP ABAP experience in S/4HANA implementations, upgrades, or conversions
Expertise in OO-ABAP, CDS Views, AMDP, Open SQL, OData, Enhancements (BAdIs/User Exits), and Adobe/SmartForms
Strong techno-functional knowledge of SAP FI, SD, and core logistics processes
Experience with integrations (IDocs, RFCs, APIs, web services)
Understanding of S/4HANA architecture, data models, and simplification items
Proven performance tuning and debugging experience in HANA environments
Strong analytical and stakeholder communication skills
Experience with SAP Fiori/UI5 from a backend enablement perspective
Exposure to SAP BTP, RAP (RESTful ABAP Programming Model), or SAP Cloud integrations
Knowledge of SAP security concepts, role design impacts, and authorization objects related to custom development
Experience working within SAP Activate or Agile delivery methodologies
Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD alignment in SAP landscapes
Experience in regulated industries with strong audit and compliance required
